Get The Free QuickTime PlayerTo hear the narration for these PowerPoint slides, you will need to have the free QuickTime Player installed on your system. A link to the QuickTime download page is provided as a text link and from the QuickTime logo, (right). QuickTime comes in both Macintosh and Windows versions. The basic player is free, but a more powerful QuickTime Plus is available for a nominal fee. This program allows more flexibility, such as recording the audio to your local computer. After downloading, run the set-up program from the location you saved it to and follow the instructions on the screen.

Again, if you require help, contact your school or district technology specialist. After installing the player, you will be ready to use the resources here as well as others that make use of streaming QuickTime.

Pop-Up Slide AudioTo activate the audio once QuickTime is installed, simply click the speaker icon at the bottom of each slide page in the central navigation area, (left). A new small window will pop up in the upper left, and after a short period of time, will begin playing the audio. Once the grey bar along the bottom of the slide window has filled up, the clip has been fully downloaded to your computer, and you will be able to navigate the entire clip using the controls in the window, like a VCR.

Also required to make use of this tool is a computer system capable of multimedia sound. Most new systems sold nowadays have this feature, but older system may not. If you are in doubt, check with your school or district technology specialist.
