Differentiation: The teacher designs instruction so that every student moves from his/her current level of performance to achieve clearly defined standards. Instruction meets the different needs of every student by appropriately incorporating the students' interests, strengths, learning styles, background, etc. and appropriately challenging them in areas of need and/or weakness. All learning activities are structured to involve high levels of critical thinking, include choice and permit a range of responses to demonstrate mastery.
